Family. More than simply a relation via blood or marriage, family can be many things. A haven to comfort you in times of strife. A mixing of personalities, sometimes energizing, sometimes challenging. A source of real support—physical, emotional, financial—in our later years.
In the next issue of the News & Views, we will be exploring all these facets of family, and more, as they relate to the communities and residents of our members. And we want to add your perspective!
Do you have an art, photography, or creative writing club at your community? At their next meeting, ask them:
What are your thoughts and feelings about family? What does family look or feel like to you? What words or images come to mind?
Have them explore their thoughts on this theme either visually or via writing, then email your submission to CALA’s Creative View to see your residents’ work in print. We can’t wait to hear from you!
The Creative View is a special section of CALA News & Views that showcases the creative work of residents and employees of California’s Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Continuing Care Retirement Communities. Readership including state legislators, DSS personnel, and the general public. See a previous Creative View here. Questions? Let us know in the comments below.
