College students: Are you studying nursing, business, culinary arts, hospitality, social science, gerontology? Are you interested in becoming part of a growing field of employers who are actively seeking your skills and knowledge? Have you considered….Assisted Living?
Through its Student Scholarship program, CALA hopes to connect you, the next generation of Assisted Living leaders, with providers seeking to fill internship and employment positions. Here are three reasons why you should apply for a scholarship to attend the 2015 Fall Conference & Trade Show in Rancho Mirage, CA.
1. Learn about what Assisted Living is…and whether it’s a good fit for you
As a scholarship recipient, you gain access to three days of cutting edge educational sessions that will give you insight into the Assisted Living model of care. Interested in dementia care or business operations, marketing or nursing, dining or activity programming? There’s a session for you! And learning side-by-side with team members who provide daily service and care to residents will also give you valuable insight into what employers are really looking for.
2. Meet with company representatives who value your skills and knowledge
Did you know that Assisted Living is responsible for 68,000 jobs in California…and that Assisted Living providers are looking for you? During an invite-only event at the Fall Conference & Trade Show, you’ll get a chance to meet one-on-one with team members from the Assisted Living companies who fund the Student Scholarship program. These companies are actively looking for people like you who are excited about working with California’s seniors.
3. Network with the Assisted Living community…and have some fun!
Your scholarship also covers entry to Monday’s wine tasting and Tuesday’s luncheon, both held in the Trade Show. These are great events to socialize and network with providers and representatives of companies who support Assisted Living, including insurance, medical supply, software, food supply, and recruitment companies, among others. Raise a glass—or an hors d’oeuvres—and connect with our awesome community of aging professionals.
