What does it mean to be Inspired? This week, more than 600 attendees will find out when they gather at the Sheraton Fairplex Hotel and Conference Center in Pomona for CALA’s 2014 Fall Conference & Trade Show to share the latest innovations and time-tested best practices in senior housing and care. For those of you who are unable to attend, here’s a small taste of what’s in store for attendees at this year’s event.
We Will Instigate Change
Whether attendees will be investigating the latest developments in brain fitness programming during Renewing the Capacity of the Aging Brain or examining how evolving care strategies can improve outcomes and reduce readmissions in Care Strategies to Improve Resident Outcomes, they will leave Monday’s intensive sessions with tools and strategies for improving residents’ quality of life.
We Will Surpass Limitations
“Know no limits” is the message that will be delivered by military veteran, Paralympic champion, and Monday keynote speaker Oz Sanchez. He will encourage us to use our thought processes to stretch ourselves beyond preconceived limitations and to be victors in work and in life. At Wednesday’s keynote presentation, we will be inspired by Maestro David Dworkin to use the connection between movement, music, and memory to better connect with residents regardless of cognitive impairment.
We Will Welcome Student Leaders
We are excited to have 14 recipients of CALA’s student scholarship joining us at the Conference & Trade Show. These student leaders, representing universities in both northern and southern California, will take advantage of the many educational and networking opportunities offered and learn more about Assisted Living as an exciting career option.
We Will Prepare for the New Year
During Tuesday’s general session, CCLD leadership will share the latest information on the major changes underway within the department. Attendees will learn about plans for an internal quality assurance program, LPA and manager training, pending changes to the CCLD consumer website, and implementation plans for new laws.
We Will Build Relationships
Whether we are networking with colleagues and exhibitors at the Wine Tasting and Trade Show Lunch, building connections through high-quality educational sessions, or enjoying a bowl of homemade pasta with fellow CALA members at the Tuesday Night Out dinner at Aruffo’s Italian Cuisine, we will seize the opportunity to grow and strengthen our community of dedicated, caring Assisted Living professionals, and carry this spirit of inspiration back to our communities and our residents.
