The recipients of CALA’s Student Scholarships reap great rewards. Not only do they get to attend a CALA Conference & Trade Show free of charge, they also get to meet face-to-face with key Assisted Living executives at a special meet-and-greet event. Students learn more about the Assisted Living profession by attending high-quality conference sessions and networking with Assisted Living professionals at the trade show. And the relationships built during the Conference & Trade Show don’t stop there.
After the 2013 Fall Conference & Trade Show, student scholarship recipients were invited to attend a special luncheon at one of Silverado‘s communities. According to Nathan Levoit, Senior Director of Employee Relations and Recruiting for Silverado, it was a great way for the students to get first-hand experience of their communities. After eating lunch with the residents, students were able to meet with key leaders in the community. “The leaders all shared their stories about how they ended up in their current roles, why they love what they do, and then we had an open forum for the students to ask questions. After lunch, we provided a tour of the community.” Each student attendee left with a greater knowledge of the various positions and career opportunities, as well as the residents being served.
