Atria Senior Living Supports Future Leaders with 2013 Ronnie Boatman Scholarship

CALA member supports the learning of employees' children with scholarship

CALA members are committed to quality care for California’s seniors, but many also support our state’s younger generations as well. Yesterday, Atria Senior Living announced the recipients of the 2013 Ronnie Boatman Commitment to Excellence Scholarships which included two California students. According to a Wall Street Journal article:

The Ronnie Boatman Commitment to Excellence Scholarship is awarded annually to deserving students based on academic achievement, extracurricular activity and civic involvement. Recipients are children or dependents of employees who work in Atria communities across the country. Described by former colleagues as a wonderful trainer, mentor, leader and friend, Boatman’s legacy is one that continues at the company.
“Ronnie was passionate about providing those around him — including his staff and their families — opportunities to continue learning and growing both professionally and personally,” said Danny McCoy, Chief Operating Officer for Atria Senior Living. “His employees were like family to him — a feeling that is echoed in every Atria community across the country. This scholarship program is a way to keep his legacy alive, while also helping children of our employees pursue their higher education goals.”

Among the 2013 recipients are Eduardo Villegas from Costa Mesa and Carol Hinostro from Pomona. The Atria Senior Living website shares that Hinostro, who is currently researching colleges,  “is a proponent of community service and has volunteered her time for the American Red Cross and the Best Buddies nonprofit organization.” And Villegas, who is also the recipient of the DAR Good Citizenship Award and the Community Service Presidential Award, is “interested in pursuing a career in marketing and using his leadership skills, creativity and passion for the betterment of others.”

Congratulations to Carol Hinostro and Eduardo Villegas, and to all the recipients of the 2013 Ronnie Boatman Scholarship! CALA is also committed to supporting students interested in pursuing a career in Assisted Living. Check back soon for information on student scholarships to our Conference & Trade Show.
